The military depends on rapid prototyping to meet the evolving requirements of the warfighter throughout the world. UTRS understands that need, and supports cradle-to-grave engineering and rapid prototyping missions to assist the military with developing new innovative capabilities, technologies, and prototypes quickly and cost effectively.

OUR CAPABILITIES

UTRS has provided direct support to the Prototype Fabrication Facility (PFF) at Picatinny Arsenal, as well as at other U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) PFFs, in the rapid design, development, manufacture, and integration of unique, difficult-to-obtain, engineered solutions ranging from initial prototypes to LRIP levels.
Our rapid prototyping expertise includes:

Providing rapid response for requirements analysis, 3D CAD modeling, simulation, technical data package (TDP) creation, fabrication, additive manufacturing, testing and low-rate initial production (LRIP).
Providing continuous manufacturing technology improvements, including 3D model-based net-centric manufacturing, storing process data in Windchill, and implementing prototype fabrication facility infrastructure
Employing machinists and shop support staff experienced in shop practices, all the equipment and tools in the Prototype Fabrication Facility (PFF), CNC programming languages, and who attend regular training to ensure they are current with the latest features and standards
Migrating existing data and information from legacy systems and drawings to 3D digital environments and adding functionality and work processes to the software support systems, ensuring that upgrades, modifications, patches, and OS updates maintain compatibility with current systems and infrastructure
Employing Black- and Green-belt Lean Six Sigma-trained quality assurance experts to apply lean manufacturing practices to reduce costs and environmental impact while improving quality, safety and reliability
Acquiring materials, equipment and supplies to meet rapidly changing requirements as well as equipping the prototype facility with required infrastructure and machinery
