The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Safety Management System Voluntary Program (SMSVP) encompasses the procedures and requirements for non-Part 121 Air Operators and air agencies who want to voluntarily implement an SMS. Burgess Aircraft Management, LLC, a charter company with 9 jets, felt an SMS was critical for their ongoing growth as a company, and that it would be foundational for the establishment of a strong safety culture. The Burgess team saw the climbing trend in business aviation incidents and wanted to ensure they didn’t became one of those statistics.

The deeper the Burgess team looked into really embracing and growing a safety culture within their company, the more they realized the need for a strong SMS software application. After detailed scrutiny of their options, Burgess decided to pursue the SMSVP with the UTRS SMS product WBAT as the software program through which they would achieve accreditation. The UTRS WBAT team’s support and expertise helped Burgess Aircraft Management, LLC pass their final FAA SMSVP audit.

Established in 2007, Burgess Aircraft Management , LLC has grown to nine jet aircraft and offers on-demand jet charters as well as aircraft management. The offices and three hangars are located at the Springfield/Branson National Airport in Springfield, MO. Burgess Aircraft includes a staff of 16 pilots with a combined flight experience totaling over 100,000 hours and 200 years of aviation experience. The company has ongoing plans to expand its fleet, facilitate joint ownership programs, and expand aircraft management coverage outside of Southwest Missouri. With UTRS’s WBAT system as the foundation of their FAA-approved safety management, they are prepared for this growth.
